Binning at the start of the year

This is it folks.  It's the start of the year, and the first thing I did was to start clearing stuff from my room.  I have to say that I have a tendency to hog and keep things thinking that I will use it in the near future.  Many a times, I don't and I just keep and keep and keep.  This year, I'm resolved to cut down on the things that I keep in my room, because I want to keep things as simple as I can... what's the best way than to start throwing out things that's been used and bin them.. *wink*

Kao Essential Damage Care Nuance Airy Shampoo.
Got this during my last Singapore trip.  Don't see it anywhere in KL though.  I tried this whilst I was bunking at a friend's place and found that it really does help to keep my hair light and bouncy.  So, off I went to the nearest Watsons and grabbed it for SGD2.  Totally a bargain purchase!

Garnier Mineral 24H Dry Care
Bought this on a whim, and partly cause my previous one was finished.  Smells good and it does help to keep sweat away.  However, it's a little too wet during application.  Am glad I've finished it =D

Elken Elysyle Coral Glow Lip Gloss
Shared this purchase with a friend cause the colour looks nice.  However, I dislike that it is sticky upon application.  I was trying my very best to finish using it because, really, how many people would like their lips to have to sticky feeling?  I sure don't.  Boy, am I glad I'm done with it.

Korean Brand Pink Lipgloss
Okay, this is a cheat.  I didn't finish it but I decant it.  why?  Because the top portion broke.  It looks so pink here right?  But in actual fact, once applied, it gives my lip a very natural soft look which I love.  Hence the decanting.... (sorry, can't remember the brand though)

Maybelline Mineral BB Cream
Okay, I cut this into half because I knew there were more inside this little tube.  Sorry for the maimed look.  Review is here.

Beautilicious Magic Spell Auto Eyeliner (vitalizing + waterproof)
Seriously, I do buy a lot of things on a whim eh?  This is one of them too.  I was testing out some eyeliners and when I saw this on sale, I just grabbed it without thinking twice.  Initially, when I first used it, it smeared and it felt too creamy for my lids (I got oily lids).  After leaving it lying for almost 1 year (I don't really remember how long), I picked it up from my drawer and start using it.  What do you know?  It turned out to be one of the best eyeliner for me.  It didn't smear and it truly is waterproof.  I used it so frequently that it was used up pretty quickly.  From this experience too, I realised that for eyeliners to work for me, I have to leave them be for a while before using it on my lids.

Random Compact Powder
This was a crazy and silly purchase.  I went to Daiso, saw this little thing and bought it to use.  I have to say that it works pretty well to stave the oilies off my face.  I would guess that given this is from Japan, the QA is better than in this part of Asia.  I know most people do freak out for this is just RM5... (mental block eh? Cheap things = no quality), but really, this is a good purchase.  I've not been back to Daiso to buy more because I already had a back up from a different brand.  However, if you are looking for cheap bargains and from a trusted brand, I'd say head on to Daiso and have a look around.  You'll be surprised how much gems you can find in that shop.

Nature Republic Grape Fruit Body Lotion

There was a period of time where I was crazy over Nature Republic and I kept buying heaps of their stuff.  One of the items I got during a spree late last year at their main outlet at Berjaya Times Square is the Nature Republic Fruits Morning Fruits Grapefruit Body Lotion.  Evidently during that time, they came up lots of fruity lotions and facial wash that's hard to resist!

Most of the information written is in Korean, so I don't really understand it.  They had a tester pack available and I was trying it on my hand.  The slight citrus-y smell was captivating and without hesitation, I took it.
I've been using it on and off because I can be quite lazy when it comes to applying body lotion.  Guilty! I know I need to be more "rajin" or persistent in applying the lotion given that majority of my time is spent in air-conditioned rooms.

I guess you'll want to know how it fares, eh?

Okay, before that, let me share with you how I apply body lotions.  I tend to do it immediately after shower, pat my body a lil dry (I mean a little) and apply the lotion.  I find the lotions apply much better this way and it keeps my body more moisturised.

Texture
The lotion is slightly on the thicker side.  It's not as liquid as water but yet at the same time it's not as thick as creams (think Rosken Body Cream).  I like it when I apply with onto my slightly wet body because it kinda lessen the thickness of the lotion.
However, if I use this on my dry and clean body, I do find it a bit too sticky to my liking.  So I just stick to using it after I shower (whenever I do remember and not that lazy).

Smell
Of course it's Grape Fruit smell! What do you expect huh? Hehe, well, it gives the citrusy smell plus a little of the sweet smell, and it is quite decent.  At least it doesn't smell cloying to me.  By the way, it does get quite citrusy, so if you don't really fancy it, this might actually turn you off.

Packaging
It comes in a tube form which I quite like.  It's easy to dispense and because of its slightly thick texture, I don't have to fear that the lotion will leak or drip when I am applying the lotion.  The tube is quite big too, given that it's 150ml.  I guess it will definitely take me quite a long while before I could finish it since I'm so slow on using it.

Moisture Level
I tend to use it immediately after my shower, so it does quite well.  It is moisturising enough for me, and given that I can get quite lazy sometimes, it works well to bring back the moisture even with one application.

In overall, there isn't a whole great deal of shout-out for this body lotion.  It is a decent buy for its price and it works well, as a body lotion should.

*Item was priced at RM16 during time of purchase.

Nivea Intensive Body Milk

The thing about having your office in a shopping mall is the danger of over-shopping!  The thing about my office is that I have to pay the parking every day, because doing so is cheaper than the monthly parking card =.=  Odd right?  Anyway, it was one of those days that I am with a RM50 only and I need change for my parking.  Since Guardian is nicely situated nearby, I dropped by to scout for the cheapest item ever.  As I was looking around, this cutesy little bottle (if you've been following my blog you'll know I'm a sucker for cute things, designs and packaging... I know, I'm lame that way O.o) going for RM3.40.  So, I thought to myself, why not give this body lotion a try?

That's the story of how I got my hands on Nivea Intensive Body Milk.  It's stated to be for dry-very dry skin =.= Actually I find myself repeating that and thinking, lame-O now.. haha.. okok, back to the main topic.  It's said to last for 24h and gives you a rich sensation when you use it.
In case you are interested, below is the description from the website:

NIVEA Body Intensive Milk is the daily intensive care, especially designed to repair dry and damaged  skin. It contains intensive nourishing milk, formulated with Marine Proteins, which penetrates deep to stimulate skin’s own revitalising system, naturally ensuring moisture production which improves the softness, smoothness and glow of your skin.
Product Action:
Caring lipids and Avocado Oil work intensively on dry skin to leave it soft and smooth all day long. The milk absorbs quickly, restoring skin to its natural softness and smoothness.
NIVEA Body Intensive Milk is specially developed for effective and long-term mositurisation with its intensive caring lipids. It also protects the natural structure of the skin and trains the natural protection of your skin.
The result:
Skin feels soft, moisturised and smooth all day long.

How does it fair?
I honestly couldn't help but compare it to Johnson's Body Lotion.  It does score lower than that.

Texture:
It is slightly greasy.  I don't really fancy any greasy feeling in the things that I use, so this is a slight turn off for me.  Then again, it may be due to the fact that this contains Avocado oil, hence that slight greasy feeling.  Nonetheless, I tend to apply it right after my shower session, so it does not feel that greasy feeling too long.  Still though, it does give me that slight sticky feeling due to the greasiness.

Although it is not of creamy texture, the lotion is surprisingly thick enough not to run all over.  Yet, I do feel that it's too thick, that I need to apply quite a fair bit in order to cover my body.  May not be that good economically?

Smell:
It smell like lotion.  Nothing distinctive, but yea, lotion smell.  Not a real turn off for me, but also not a turn on for me.

Packaging:
I have to say that it works quite well ergonomically and economically.  Why? Because I can tilt the bottle upside down without fear of it.  There is however, a downside to it.  It seems to spill over everytime I open in after tilting it.  Some of the lotion do sort of splatter all over, so one needs to be careful when opening it after tilting.

Was reading lipglosseater's review this item, and I realised that the item contains alcohol. While it does not seem to be a big deal to me, I am also learning to ease off on products that contains alcohol.  So I guess this is not a re-purchase for me in all the many reasons. I'm glad that I bought the smaller bottle and it did not cost me a fortune =p

Johnson's Body Care 24 Hour Lasting Moisture Body Lotion

I have a confession to make. I'm uber lazy when it comes to moisturising my body.  The only time where I was rather hardworking at it was when I was in Australia.  The weather there was crazy and my skin flakes like mad too, and coarse like crocodile skin... *shudder*. Well, that's another story to tell.  Since I'm back here, I've been rather lazy with body lotions/ creams.  That's cause the weather here doesn't allow lotions to be nice to us sometimes.  It's hot and humid, and when you apply stuff on your body, it can feel icky.

But recently, due to the frequent exposure to aircond, my skin have been rather dry.  So I've been on the hunt to get body lotions!  So what did I end up with?

I got to admit that it caught my attention because it was PINK! I am weak against that colour, and I have a number of items too in pink =.= Fail la me.  hahaha...... I guess it prompted me to pick it up to read the description.  I totally made the choice to buy ti when I read that it provides "24 Hour Lasting Moisture". Now that is something that's good for a lazy bum like me!

How does it fair?

Texture
I love the fact that the texture is creamy yet not too thick.  It goes on smoothly onto my skin and at the same time it doesn't leave me feeling greasy all over.  It does surprise me since it says that it contains Shea Butter.  Usually Shea Butter does leave your skin with a little grease, but I am guessing the content isn't that high for this?  Still, it's good because I tend to use my computer after application and some of the other brands leaves it mark on my computer =.= With this one, I don't have to worry about it.  What's more, now I like to touch my arms sometimes just to feel its smoothness.. hehe.... really baby-soft skin

Smell
I can't pinpoint what smell it is, but it's pleasant.  I guess it does carry a hint of sweetness it in without overwhelming you.  If you fancy faint smell like I do, this works.  But if you are those that cannot withstand anything smelling sweet, I'd recommend you to try to smell it before buying it.  Nonetheless, since Johnson's and Johnson's are even suitable for babies, I'd guess you might just smell like babies?  Aw, isn't that sweet =D

Packaging
I'd have to say that the packaging is rather practical.  Don't take it the wrong way.  I'm all for practicality.  Since both the top and bottom are flat.  When I hit half the bottle, I can just tilt it around and allow it to stand on its cover  without fear of it toppling over.  It's so convenient as I don't have to keep shaking it.

Re-purchase?
Well, I'd definitely will re-purchase it again, some time later because I'm itching to try it's two other siblings! Hehe... I'd have to say that Johnson's & Johnson's did well with this range.  Really tempting to buy the other two to try =p

Garnier Aqua Defense Fresh Non Stop Moisturizing Body Lotion is a No Go

Did any of you buy this?  If you have the intention, may I refrain you from doing so?  I'll share with you why!

Smell: The smell is rather strong for my liking.  It’s not really a fruit smell, just a sweet smell, and it’s really strong.  Why the emphasis?  There was one instance whereby, after I’ve applied the lotion for at least half an hour or so, my mom came into my room.  The first question she asked me was, wah, what is that smell?  Did you put perfume on?  Mind you, my room is not small and for that smell to be so strong and prevalent after half an hour, it is really too strong for my liking.

Eeky-feeling: I have to say that the lotion gives you an odd feeling.  Usually lotions feel soft, smooth and nice right?  Well, with this, please expect your skin to be slightly sticky, plastic-ky feel.  Somehow or rather, whilst applying onto the skin, the gel like substance seems to stick to your skin in a very plastic feel and it continues to be there.  I don’t feel that it’s being absorbed into the skin, because even when I woke up the next day, that weird feel is still on my skin.  One way to describe it is; there seems to be a filament on my skin.  Sad to say, I thoroughly dislike it!

I know, there isn't a lot of point, but I guess this is enough to say that this wouldn't be a repeat buy for me.   I was having good expectation from it, because I was quite attracted to the product in the first place.  I am sad to know that it turned out to be quite a disaster buy for me.  It’s a definite no-no recommendation from my end.

Detox 5th & Tada! Da Last Day

It has come to an end for Kinohimitsu's 6-Day Detox Juice's review from me. To say the least, I will say goodbye to it for now... okay... enough of the melodrama...

I know I've written a "dissatisfied" comment on it two days ago. And I am surprised that the Juice did gave me a surprise!

From yesterday and today, I realised that instead of waiting for 2 to 4 hours later after my meal that I had to go to the toilet, but instead, I felt the need to go within half an hour or so. And boy, did my stomach clear itself!

Seriously, it's a GOOD feeling! Haha.... I guess what happened was that there wasn't a lot to clear? Or maybe I did not drink enough water to help flush my system (just guesses, not sure if drinking water makes a lot of difference anyway).

Well, I guess taking the detox juice does help. But seriously, I doubt I can do it like very often since it is rather costly. Probably from nowon, what I need to do is to eat more oats and drink more water (it does help to clean up your body).

More reviews to come on other items! Hope you all will look forward to it =)

Detox Day 4

Sadly, the desire to go to the toilet has decreased. What's more, even if I go, it feels as though the normal type of trip once again. The feeling of dissatisfaction after going (you know what I mean right) is back! I feel like screaming ARGHHH.... cause I seriously dislike the feeling of it.

Is this the end of Kinohimitsu for me? I seriously don't know. I'm left with 2 more bottles. Am I giving justice if I were to give a verdict of it's ability (or disability) to help me detox? Hm... I guess, I shall be nice and give a verdict only after I finished all the 6 bottles. Aih, I also am unsure what I should write for now.

In the meanwhile, I guess what I can do is finish all 6 bottles and probably start scouting for alternatives. What an expensive experiment this is....

Detox 3rd Day

Okay, it's the third day... and the verdict is... wellll... I don't really go to the toilet like every few hours or whatsoever, but I do go like once a day. And things are getting DARKER! Haha.. seriously, I don't know whether it is working or not, but I do know that the feeling of wanting to go but unable to is not there anymore. It's more like the urge is seriously there and when I do go, it's okay.

Oh, I did manage to go on the 2nd day btw. Not too great a feeling, but at least you feel slightly better, you know what I mean.

3 more bottles. Let's see, like, seriously, how efficient it will be!

Kinohimitsu Cranberry D'Tox Juice (2nd bottle)

Result from 1st bottle... zilch. I didn't go to toilet at all, well, except for the slight feeling of wanting to go. Went to bed at 12 plus not feeling anything, so, go figure.

Anyhow, since it's a 6-day detox programme, maybe it's not effective yet? I took my 2nd bottle this morning after breakfast. And I did go to the loo! But it's not like it's a lot or anything. I just need to go! And the feeling that there is still more to come is there too. Hm, oh well.. let's hope later I get to go again.

Let's see if anything changes later this evening =) Will update again

Kinohimitsu Cranberry D'tox Juice

,Ever feel like going to the loo but yet nothing came out? Ever felt restless because of it? Well, I've been feeling it for the past few weeks! What a horrible feeling it was.

Well, I've been seeing this Kinohimitsu brand for quite a while and I've actually used their health pads before (that's for a different time), so it really does piques my curiosity as to how effective their 6-Day D'Tox Juice would work. After surveying the price (thank God for MEGA SALES NOW), I finally bought the Kinohimitsu J'pan D'Tox Juice 6-Day Program (Cranberry flavour) for RM65.40 at Sasa (UP at RM69.90).

The one I bought has a different packaging than the normal ones. Apparently, the sales lady informed me that this packaging was done up for Mother's Day and Father's Day purpose, and because they still have stock, so they are selling it at a slightly cheaper price. I think the UP for the normal packaging was at RM70 plus (don't exactly remember).

A total of 6 bottles. Definitely quite pricey, but hey, if it works, the price ought to be worth it I guess. Below are some of the stuff written at the back of the box:

  • No additives, no preservatives
Effective:

Do you have:

  • Busy, stressful life
  • Ireegular meals and eating processed food
  • Constant exposure to unhealthy environment, air, water pollution
  • In just 6 Days, Kinohimistu J'pan D'Tox leaves you feeling renew, refresh and revitalize!

Usage:
Shake well before drinking. 1 bottle each time, preferably after food. Taste excellent when chilled. 1-3 bottles per week, or as needed.

First time Users:
1 bottle a day, consecutively for 6 days.
Suggestion: best to have it 2-4 hours before planning for defecation.

Well now, I've taken one bottle earlier today, at about 7plus pm. Waiting for things to happen I guess right now. There is a slight feeling of wanting to go to the toilet, but I guess will probably need to wait a bit longer.

Shall continue to update (everyday of the results if possible).

In the meanwhile, do check it out at the nearest pharmacy or Sasa near you if interested =)
