Digressing a little

I'm digressing a little here, but boy am I glad that 31st Dec is declared a Public Holiday.  I am jammed packed on 1st January, what's with a friend's wedding in the morning and evening, and not to forget@ Plusizekitten's birthday celebration in the afternoon.  Tomorrow will give me a day of rest and catching up on some beautifying sessions before the long day on 1st.

Happy Holidays everyone!  Hope your year has been great.  For those who doesn't, let's look forward to a better year ahead of us.

Blessings...

Daiso Make Up Cleansing Wet Tissue

Another round of walking around Daiso can be harmful to my pocket, although the items are at RM5.  The number goes up rather quickly when you start picking a few things along the way.  It's those by the way, oh I think I need it that tends to hit me and before I knew it, I'm paying for them already.

Let me digress, ever since I purchased Biore's cleansing tissue, I find myself wanting to try others!  I know, it's rather weird right, it's as though a button was pressed in me to try to see if there are others.  Well, lo and behold, I saw this paper written stating best selling item and it's none other than Daiso's very own cleansing tissue.

At RM5 for 30 pieces, I thought it would do no harm in giving it a try.

What's more, the wrapper had it in English stating that it contains natural herbal extract.  What could be so wrong right?
Well, I'd definitely could never be so wrong ever!  Besides the fact that it is quite a big piece of cleansing wet tissue, I don't have a fair bit of good things to share...

For one, it's thin.  Literally, utterly, obscenely thin.  Look at the picture below and you will understand how thin it is.
Not only it is thin, the material is rather harsh to the skin.   It's ok if you wipe it once, but because it doesn't do too much of a decent job, I'd have to run it over my skin 2 to 3 times to ensure that it's clean.  When you do that, it felt harsher to the skin.  I guess over-rubbing it with harsh materials is definitely a no-no.  I'd only use it on days when I am only having my sunscreen and a layer of compact powder on my face.  So, you can guess how good a job it does eh.

This is definitely not a re-buy.

My Beauty Diary Mask: Arbutin Whitening Mask

A revisit to the mask land for me! Hasn't been really sleeping well and my skin was looking rather dull.  Figuring it was high time for a round of pampering to my skin, I rummage my bag (yes, a paper bag full of it) of masks and found this!

My Beauty Diary Mask ~ Arbutin Whitening Mask.  I guess this would help me to brighten up my skin and so I proceeded to it.  This time round, I didn't fridge it but left it my air-cond room for a bit (went to wash and scrub the skin so that it can absorb the mask session better, tee hee).

When I opened it, I was rather intrigued by the mask.  Usually, the paper masks are white in color and slightly think.  A little paper-y feel, if you know what I mean.  This mask is rather different and unusual.  Compared to other masks, this is a see through mask.  It's rather thin, but yet not flimsy.  In terms of thickness, it's pretty much the same as the other paper masks that I've used.  Nonetheless, it's quite easy to manipulate to ensure that it fits the face.  I think the uniqueness of it is the fact that it's rather smooth! It's like putting a layer of jelly onto your skin.

I remember staring at the mirror after applying it and I could still pretty much "see" my face, if you know what I mean =D

However, I find that it's kinda shallow on the forehead size, maybe it's cause I have high forehead?  Other than that, like any of the My Beauty Diary Mask, it fits my face quite well.

After 20 minutes or so, I removed it and yet it still feels like that mask is full of juice! Haha... I used it along my arms and legs, just to fully utilise all those nutritious (I guess they are?) juive =D

Did it make my skin instantly fair?  Nah, my skin do look brighter though, giving me that perked up feeling that I like.  Like any other masks, one must continue using it for a period of time in order to see the effect.  It's rather hydrating I would say, and that does make me feel good too.

Will I rebuy?  I guess? Cause I find that the see through feeling was kinda awesome. haha... It does perk my skin up so that's a pro to it.

The Face Shop PK110

Ang my nail polish fetish continues!  I'm on a roll to add to my ever growing collection of nail polishes.  The latest to join my gangs of little bottles is the Face Shop PK110.

This is going to be a rather short entry

Love: the color, very sweet pink.  If you are into the sweet mood, this goes well for you.  After a good few layer, the colour looks much better and everyone who saw my fingers commented that it looks sweet.  I guess it's good?

Dislike:
  • it's sheerness.  Even with 3 coats of the polish on, I can still see the white of my nails.  Not exactly easy to color because of its sheerness, sometimes it does make the nails look patchy (especially when I use my unstable left hand to color my right).
  • It feels rather thick but yet the colour is very sheer.  A very oddball combination because it makes it ever so hard to even out the colour.
I'd definitely won't repurchase this again and it may take me a while before I come back to it to do my nails.

Review: Eucerin Sensitive Skin Gentle Cleansing Milk

One of the first few cleansing items that I encountered when I started noticing about make up stuff is Cleansing Milk.  My aunt (with whom I stayed for a while), always have this bottle of cleansing milk in the bathroom cabinet.

Then I started doing make up on my own.  I guess cleansing milk was imprinted on my mind and so one day, as I was walking around Caring, I decided to grab this Eucerin Sensitive Skin Gentle Cleansing Milk.
Does it work?
I would say at most times it works.  Because it is milk, it is not harsh to the skin.  Rather, it feels quite milkish, as though you're massaging milk on to your face, minus the smell.  I realised that when using this, it works better when you wipe your face with a tissue after massaging it all over your face.  It does feels cleaner and less sticky.  I usually double cleanse after that so it does not leave much residue on my face.

The downside of this is it does not work as eye make up remover.  You can rub all you want, but it just does not work as well.  I tend to use a separate eye make up remover to do the job.

I will re-purchase a different cleansing milk just to test them out and see what's the difference.  But in overall, will I rely on it solely?  The answer would be no.  This works well for those who does not do heavy make up, maybe just basic foundation and powder, otherwise, it's better to use cleansing oil to really remove all the make up on the face.

Getting ready

I'm not writing about beauty stuff today, but just to share that I'm rather excited about starting my new job.  It's a job that requires me to dress up more formally than I was (I used to work for companies that allows me to wear jeans everyday!) and so, today, I spent one and half hours just ironing my clothes.  Gosh, I totally forgot all the hard work and sweat required for ironing.

I'm not really done yet, as I still need to prepare this and that for the big day on Monday, but it's a start and I'm kinda looking forward to it.

Have you done something recently in preparation for what you are looking forward to?

I guess after this Monday, I'll be looking forward to Christmas! It's just around the corner, so don't let it catch you by surprise! hehe

Nivea Intensive Body Milk

The thing about having your office in a shopping mall is the danger of over-shopping!  The thing about my office is that I have to pay the parking every day, because doing so is cheaper than the monthly parking card =.=  Odd right?  Anyway, it was one of those days that I am with a RM50 only and I need change for my parking.  Since Guardian is nicely situated nearby, I dropped by to scout for the cheapest item ever.  As I was looking around, this cutesy little bottle (if you've been following my blog you'll know I'm a sucker for cute things, designs and packaging... I know, I'm lame that way O.o) going for RM3.40.  So, I thought to myself, why not give this body lotion a try?

That's the story of how I got my hands on Nivea Intensive Body Milk.  It's stated to be for dry-very dry skin =.= Actually I find myself repeating that and thinking, lame-O now.. haha.. okok, back to the main topic.  It's said to last for 24h and gives you a rich sensation when you use it.
In case you are interested, below is the description from the website:

NIVEA Body Intensive Milk is the daily intensive care, especially designed to repair dry and damaged  skin. It contains intensive nourishing milk, formulated with Marine Proteins, which penetrates deep to stimulate skin’s own revitalising system, naturally ensuring moisture production which improves the softness, smoothness and glow of your skin.
Product Action:
Caring lipids and Avocado Oil work intensively on dry skin to leave it soft and smooth all day long. The milk absorbs quickly, restoring skin to its natural softness and smoothness.
NIVEA Body Intensive Milk is specially developed for effective and long-term mositurisation with its intensive caring lipids. It also protects the natural structure of the skin and trains the natural protection of your skin.
The result:
Skin feels soft, moisturised and smooth all day long.

How does it fair?
I honestly couldn't help but compare it to Johnson's Body Lotion.  It does score lower than that.

Texture:
It is slightly greasy.  I don't really fancy any greasy feeling in the things that I use, so this is a slight turn off for me.  Then again, it may be due to the fact that this contains Avocado oil, hence that slight greasy feeling.  Nonetheless, I tend to apply it right after my shower session, so it does not feel that greasy feeling too long.  Still though, it does give me that slight sticky feeling due to the greasiness.

Although it is not of creamy texture, the lotion is surprisingly thick enough not to run all over.  Yet, I do feel that it's too thick, that I need to apply quite a fair bit in order to cover my body.  May not be that good economically?

Smell:
It smell like lotion.  Nothing distinctive, but yea, lotion smell.  Not a real turn off for me, but also not a turn on for me.

Packaging:
I have to say that it works quite well ergonomically and economically.  Why? Because I can tilt the bottle upside down without fear of it.  There is however, a downside to it.  It seems to spill over everytime I open in after tilting it.  Some of the lotion do sort of splatter all over, so one needs to be careful when opening it after tilting.

Was reading lipglosseater's review this item, and I realised that the item contains alcohol. While it does not seem to be a big deal to me, I am also learning to ease off on products that contains alcohol.  So I guess this is not a re-purchase for me in all the many reasons. I'm glad that I bought the smaller bottle and it did not cost me a fortune =p

Daiso's Beeswax Lip Balm (Beeswax + Peach Fragrance)

I'm not a very consistent person when it comes to lipstick, lip balms and lip gloss.  I can do my eye make up and leave my lips bare naked.  That, I have to admit, is my regular look =p  However, the past few weeks my lips has been acting on and off; whereby it gets rather dry on days that the skin's peeling.  That really look quite miserable when I caught myself in the mirror.

So as I was browsing at Daiso after my session with my Chiropractor, I saw this little lip blam.  What attracted me was the Peach fragrance.  I'm a sucker for peach and I love to eat peach.  I definitely cannot eat this lip balm, but I thought it would be interesting.

It does look like any other lip balms around.

It states on the label that it's Made in Taiwan.  Somehow, I always think that stuff from Taiwan looks good and does work a fair bit for me.  One thing that made me laughed out loud when reading the label was this:

Warning: Stop using if lip affections develop after use.

Now, I thought one uses it to look good and for those who kisses others (ahem, family also can kiss the cheeks right!), it looks like this lip balm doesn't work for you? Haha, anyhow....

I like the fact that this lip balm does not have that clinical smell, as well as no overwhelming smell too.  It carries more of the vanilla smell and it's quite pleasant.  If you don't fancy vanilla smell, I don't think this is for you though.  That aside, the stick itself isn't those soft and wobbly ones.  I quite like that it glides on your lip quite well.  I don't have to worry about smacking it on my lips too hard and have it broke on me, nor do I have to worry that the stick is too hard to the point where I need to press this lip balm onto my lip.

It does leave a bit of a heavy feeling after putting on, but then again, because I am one who does not like to have anything on her lips, you can take it with a pinch of salt eh.

Now, does it work to keep my lip from cracking further?
It does, but not as immediate as I wish it to be (need to learn that nothing happens in an instance, gotta be patient).  I usually apply it overnight if I could remember.  Else, it will be a dash of it before I dash out of the door.  Works on well and last me till lunch time and I don't exactly feel it on my lip.

With so many choices out there, I guess it'll be a while before I revisit it again.  But I do think at the price of RM5 for a lip balm of normal size, it does a fair and decent job without having to suffer through some odd smelling balms.

Review: Sally Hansen Strengthening Nail Polish Remover

This was a random buy a while ago, when I ran out of nail polish remover.  Seeing that it's Sally Hansen, I decided to give it a try.  To be honest, I don't like the smell of it.  It carries quite a strong smell of alcohol denat I presume? and so everytime I use it, my room will smell of it.  It does get quite overwhelming.

One thing about it is that, it will ask you to press the cotton soaked with the remover onto your nails for a while before removing it.  It does a fairly good job if I do the pressing, otherwise, it does require a few times of wiping before my nail polishes comes out.

However, although it states that it is gentle, I realise that it does harm my nails.  Sometimes when I use it I noticed that it seems to remove a layer of my nails.. eeppsss... It's quite scary.  It's quite a big bottle and so it does last for quite a fair bit.

Will I re-buy?  Not when I have other alternatives like the one I bought from Nature Republic.

Guess what I got in my mailbox!

I came home from church today (yes, on a Sunday) and I saw this package on the table!  Without bothering to check who it was to, I ripped it opened and I saw this!

It was quite silly really! I somehow knew that it was for me, and it was only after ripping off the package that I check and see if it's directed for me @.@ I know, I can be quite lame that way sometimes! Haha... But OH MY!!! Hada Labo sent me these few goodies and I'm honestly very, very happy!

The items included in the packaging are:
Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion 9ml
     AHA-BHA Face Wash 12g
Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Cream 3ml

I've been very tempted to give the Face Wash a try and was wanting to purchase it when I realised that I still have another Facial Wash at home that I got from Nature Republic.  Plus the fact that I'm still on a ban, I resisted.  Such a lovely surprise!!  Hada Labo, you really just made my day!

I gave in recently and purchased the Hada Labo Moisturising Lotion (remember I said I allow myself the lee way to make two purchases?? hehe..I made them within a vast of 2 days because both items finished one after the other =p)  Will review it after I used it a few months down the road ya.

Allow me to digress a little.  I recently had to change my phone due to my careless (I dropped it and the phone was turning on and off on its own, so I went to DiGi, waited a few hours and got an iPhone 4 =D  It's my latest toy (I do love them, but they are so expensive to play with) and I downloaded this application called Instagram.  It functions like a twitter for photos.  Below is a picture that I took of the freebies with using Earlybird.

Etude House Nail Polish WH701HD - Metallic Grey

Like I said in an earlier post, I'm like crazy over nail polishes these days and they got darker in terms of colors too! Haha...Here's my latest conquest.  Why did I go for grey?  It's also coz I'm in the GREY mode these days.  I'm even looking for a pair of grey shoes =.=  Maybe I am turning grey??? OH NO! That lady's GREY!! *wokay, me going wonkers*

Please excuse my not so nice painting of my nails.  Still trying to improve on it and all.

How do I like it?
I do wonder if it's me or if it's the nail polish as I seem to be encountering some issues during application.  This colour is seriously not easy to apply it.  A thinner layer seems to clump together rather quickly.  I guess it dries fast?  I had to redo my left hand and make sure I get thick and gooey polish using the brush to ensure that the colours applied well.

Other than that, the colour is so pretty! It lasted me more than a week without chipping of any sort and it's with 1 base coat, 2 coating of grey and 1 top coat.  The colour are rather pretty and quite similar to the picture.  At least a number of people commented that it's a very nice colour... hehe

Is this a rebuy?  Well, depending I guess? I'm still out searching for a different grey (Crazy me) and if I do find a better one, I guess I will forego this one, of course provided that grey is easier to apply =.=

Since I am on shopping ban....

Since I'm on shopping ban, I've been digging around my room for goodies to use as well as trying to finish up some items that I have with me.  Good girl right? Hehe... So for this month, I'm going to blog about things that I've panned out/ finished as well as my existing stuff/ samples bla bla bla...

I don't know about you, I find satisfaction in being able to finish up whatever that I could buy.  Being one that likes to keep moving on to the next thing, this is not such an easy task to fulfill.

Nonetheless, I am proud to say that I've finished up four of my items recently and I just really want to share with you all.
I'll share a bit more on the rest of the items later.  You can check out my review on the Johnson's Body Care Lotion here.

Review: Garnier Aqua Defense Intensive Moisturising Essence Gel

A few months back my skin was looking rather dull, making me feeling rather dull as well.  I've tried many different types of lotions and etc and I even have pimples popping up! Oh my goodness!  So a crazy thought hit me that says, maybe my skin is not moisturised enough.  So I started scouting for bargain goodies that contains ample moisturising entities and keep my skin plump without the need for splurging (was going broke from shopping!)  Having read about the Garnier Aqua Defense in a few blogs; I decided to give it a try.  I went for the Aqua Defense  Intensive Moisturising Essence Gel because my skin tends to be oily and I don't heart putting creams on my skin.

My very first question when I opened the container is, "eh, it looks watery...".  I guess that's because I was expecting it to be slightly thicker and more gel-like.  Nonetheless, it doesn't seem dodgy.  It's green in colour by the way.  Hehe.. does it turn you into incredible Hulk?  Worry not, cause it sinks right into your skin rather quickly.  I do encounter a slight stinging session when I applied it, but that feeling disappears rather quickly too.  Plue who reviewed this item states that it contains Alcohol Denat, so I guess that's why my skin felt the stinging session.   The best part is that it doesn't feel oily at all.  I have combi skin, and totally dis-heart those thick greasy feeling on the skin.  Most of those cream based products just breaks me out and I really really hate that.  This just feel right and nice.

I totally love the fact that it works!  It does leave my skin more supple and I daresay my skin was looking all the more fresher since I started using it.  On days when my skin felt a little down, I use this as a sleeping mask.  I will apply it thicker (no fear cause it does sink into the skin rather quickly) and then off I am to bed.  Next day I will wake up with my skin supple and bouncy.

Is this a re-buy?  I will, but my itchy hands want to have a touch of its sister product too, L'Oreal Hydrafresh Aqua Essence Gel =p

Nature Republic's Color Day Apple Nail Remover

As I was typing this, I find the name hilarious!  You want to remove your nail using liquid?  I for one do not wish to have my nails removed, but I guess I'll use it to remove my nail polish and that's the extend of it =p

Guess what? I am TOTALLY IN LOVE with this nail polish remover.  Oh my gosh, where have you been all these while???  I love it because:

It smells fruity:
It doesn't give off that alcohol smell that tends to be awful and leaves the room smelling as such for a long long time.  This smells sweet and it beats that awful smell by far off

It removes my nail polish in a breeze:
It works even better than my Sally Hansen nail polish remover.  I've had a record of my coatings of nail varnish and it just removes them *pooh* just like that.  I guess the most I rubbed (gently) was like about 3 - 5 times and the colours came off just like that.  What more do I have to say?

It is really cost saving:
At RM5.90 per bottle, this is such a bargain.  What's more, it helps me to save cotton!  Now that's what I called cost savings!

p/s: Nature Republic is located on the 2nd floor of Berjaya Times Square near the Centre Court (near Sasa).  The shop is huge and they have a variety of goodies priced at different range for your perusal and enjoyment.

This review is personally of my own and contains no endorsement from Nature Republic

Apple & Bee Glitter Make Up Envelope Bag

It's a long weekend and I'm having some "extra" time to blog =D

Please allow me to digress a little here eh?  A friend of mine dropped by Singapore recently and I went down south to meet and chill out with her (yes, she is a very, very dear friend!) and guess what she gave me as a present?????

It's Apple and Bee pretty make up and toiletry bag!
For those of you who does not know what Apple & Bee is all about, here's the description:

At apple&bee our aim is to make the most beautiful cosmetic, travel and baby bags without harming our environment - that is why we are carbon neutral.  Our exclusive designs are printed onto natural fabrics such as organic cotton, bamboo silk, hemp, burlap/ calico and genuine leather... because just as we're built our bags to last, we wouldn't mind the planet being around for a while longer too.

This bag is called the envelope make up - japan blue glitter.  It can double up as a rather pretty and sexy clutch too.  I think I will most likely use it as a clutch because it is oh sooo pretttayyy.  I know I'm gushing but I can't help it!
Here's what the website gushes about this cutesy lil bag:

This new addition envelope make-up bag is designed to fit in all your essentials and also double up as a cute little clutch! You can hide it in your handbag (no I won't for sure! I want to show it to people! *must remind self to breathe*) or take it out on its own (OH YES!).  Made from organic cotton on the outside and lined with hemp it comes in our three latest designs and in Red Dove and Japan Silver too.

The envelope make-up bag is 230 x 130mm.

Pretty? I daresay.  I'm not those 100% into organic or environmental friendly thingie (just being honest here) but this definitely took it up to the next level eh.  I find the designs rather different and such cute and pretty lil things sometimes makes me weak at the knees.  Hehe... but then again, looking at the price, it is rather on the high end.  Add exchange rate conversion to that and it kind of blow the top for me.

That said, I can't wait to scout for more *remind self = November is no shopping month*.  Eh, but I can WINDOW SHOP right????

Do you give your nails nutrition? TheFaceShop Nail Nutrition

Do you give your nails nutrition?  If you do, what do you use?  When I was in Australia last year, my nails was extremely brittle.  I guess it was due to the weather.  I remember back when I was studying, my nails were in that same condition too.  So as I was walking around Melbourne Central, I came across TheFaceShop.  On impulse I went in and started looking at their nail polish.  I scouted and saw this nail nutrition bottle.  Similary, on impulse I decided to buy it... haha...

Did it work?  Well, I'll be honest to say that it didn't really work when I was in Australia.  I guess the winter there is too dry and because my nails were already quite weak, it couldn't save my nails.  I ended up needing to trim it =(

When I got back to Malaysia, I decided to continue using it.  Lo and behold, it works wonders!  I use it continuously for a few days every time after I remove my nail colours.  My nails really does look better and it looks healthier.  It seems to give it a natural glow (does that apply on nails??) and the brush is so soft that it makes application a breeze.

This is a definite re-buy for me =D

On a Mission to Finish

I am on a mission!  I am trying to finish up as many make up/ skin care products that I have.  And because of this mission, I am refraining myself from making any purchases!  Well, except for those that I really need, such as contact lens solution and a day moisture essence as I am running out of them. Even in the meanwhile, I am trying my best to clear off all those items that I have.

I realised that I do have a lot of products in which I have yet to review *horror*.  I'll try my best and dedicate some necessary time to post them up eh.

Well, if you do notice, I am trying to post at least once a week =D Will try my best to restructure my schedule and try to free myself for more time to post eh.

ianti Luxe Jewelry Manicure 228 Ferra Red

What does Ferra Red means? Well, I totally have no idea!  And why did I choose it?  I didn't, it was just one of those freebies that was given when I went to ianti shopping months ago.  I'm not really into such sharp colors and I'm not good with doing nails, hence sheer colours are always my favourite.

However, for the past few weeks, I've been going nuts over solid/strong/sharp colours and when I saw it, I'd thought I give it a try again.  It's orange red, skewing towards orange more than red.  Does turn out to be a very sharp and sexy colour =D

How is it?  To be honest, this is one tough colour to apply.  The pictures shown above is a result of 1 layer of base coat, 3 coating of the colour and 1 top coat.  That's a total of 5 coating and it's a first time for me.  WHY? It's because the colour turns out to be very sheer and streaky.  I have a tough time trying to keep the colour looking even and nice during the application. But once dried it's alright.

I guess next round I can do 2 coating of the colour and bear with the lightness of it because it's too much a hassle for me to wait for that 5 coatings to dry.

Besides the fact that I like its redness, I don't really have much of an interest in it.  It's fun to disturb my grandma with my nail colour so vibrant I guess.  She kept smiling when I try to do the "scary hand coming to your face" act.  Oh well, at least my grandma's entertained.

Suki Q Facial Wash

Oh what's this?? A new facial wash?  Okay, okay, yeaps! It's my current facial wash.  It's called Q10 Whitening Foam Cleanser.  I got this from Sasa because I was rather intrigued by its pinkiness!  I can be quite a sucker for pink colour.  Well, to be honest, I've been eyeing it for weeks before I made the move to purchase it.

This is manufactured in Korea, however, I guess it's catered for the Japan market since the description is in English as well as in Japanese.  I couldn't help but laugh when I read the description!  What's with Korean cleansers and the word "horny"?  It's definitely not the first time that I've seen it as part of some Korean skincare description.  Do let me know if you know eh...

Here's the list of ingredients for those who are interested.  I'm not very good with reading ingredients and me being me, I can tell you I'll forget the instant it's out of my sight.  Truly, out of sight, out of mind.

Here's the description on how to use it.  I would definitely recommend foaming the cleanser before application as it works better in cleaning your face.

Now, how does it fair?

Well, what strikes me first was the smell.  It was a rather sharp perfume smell.  It does annoy me a little initially but I guess I got used to it.  Every now and then though, the smell does catch up on me at times.  Is it a big deal?  Not entirely, but it'll be good if the smell is lightened a little.

It does leave my skin relatively clean; albeit not squeaky clean.  However, like I said earlier, this facial wash works better when foamed.  When foamed, my skin does not feel tight at all.  Just right I'd say.  However, at times when I got too lazy to foam and just splat/rub it on my face, it does leave my skin a little tight and somehow, it does not feel as clean.  Nonetheless, bear in mind I do tend to double cleanse, so the skin won't be as crazy dirty kind of feeling when it comes to using this cleanser.

I'd recommend you to use this as a night facial wash and choose a milder one for the morning.  As my skin is dry combination skin; it does leave certain parts of my skin feeling a tad dry when I use it in the mornings.

Well, it being a whitening facial wash, I'd say that it works relatively well.  My skin does look slightly brighter (was having dull skin recently) and all.  Of course, I don't expect a cleanser to remove my pigmentations and all, but definitely on the overall, my face does look a little bit more even.

Would I re-purchase?  I might, but I'm not going to say 100% re-purchase as I guess there are other brands better out there =p

Winner!

Okay, so I'm supposed to announce the winner to my small lil giveaway last week.  So sorry peeps, I'm sure you guys are waiting for it.  Sometimes things can pretty much swamp me and I'll be struggling to float about.  Anyhow, I'd like to thank all those who took part in this!  I hope it was as fun to you sharing with as it was to me reading.

And now.... the winner is........ STACEY LEE!  Why did I choose her entry?  Don't you think it was so romantic!  Here's her entry for your enjoyment:

It was long time I did not celebrate my brithday after give birth my son, my birthday is on 31st December, everyone are busy for count down. But in my memories the most memorable birthday was at UK 8 years ago, just my husband bring me to a very romantic Italian restaurant and we watch firework after the dinner at the city square at Leeds in our 1st married year.

Well, to think that in their first year of marriage, they were in Leeds and was enjoying an Italian restaurant.  I think the best part of it is, they were in a different country, enjoying a different kind of countdown, with a different kind of intention in mind.

I do hope that your marriage life will continually be a blessing to all those around you =D  Stacey, if you are reading this, I'll be emailing you so that I can get your info for delivery purpose ya.

Johnson's Body Care 24 Hour Lasting Moisture Body Lotion

I have a confession to make. I'm uber lazy when it comes to moisturising my body.  The only time where I was rather hardworking at it was when I was in Australia.  The weather there was crazy and my skin flakes like mad too, and coarse like crocodile skin... *shudder*. Well, that's another story to tell.  Since I'm back here, I've been rather lazy with body lotions/ creams.  That's cause the weather here doesn't allow lotions to be nice to us sometimes.  It's hot and humid, and when you apply stuff on your body, it can feel icky.

But recently, due to the frequent exposure to aircond, my skin have been rather dry.  So I've been on the hunt to get body lotions!  So what did I end up with?

I got to admit that it caught my attention because it was PINK! I am weak against that colour, and I have a number of items too in pink =.= Fail la me.  hahaha...... I guess it prompted me to pick it up to read the description.  I totally made the choice to buy ti when I read that it provides "24 Hour Lasting Moisture". Now that is something that's good for a lazy bum like me!

How does it fair?

Texture
I love the fact that the texture is creamy yet not too thick.  It goes on smoothly onto my skin and at the same time it doesn't leave me feeling greasy all over.  It does surprise me since it says that it contains Shea Butter.  Usually Shea Butter does leave your skin with a little grease, but I am guessing the content isn't that high for this?  Still, it's good because I tend to use my computer after application and some of the other brands leaves it mark on my computer =.= With this one, I don't have to worry about it.  What's more, now I like to touch my arms sometimes just to feel its smoothness.. hehe.... really baby-soft skin

Smell
I can't pinpoint what smell it is, but it's pleasant.  I guess it does carry a hint of sweetness it in without overwhelming you.  If you fancy faint smell like I do, this works.  But if you are those that cannot withstand anything smelling sweet, I'd recommend you to try to smell it before buying it.  Nonetheless, since Johnson's and Johnson's are even suitable for babies, I'd guess you might just smell like babies?  Aw, isn't that sweet =D

Packaging
I'd have to say that the packaging is rather practical.  Don't take it the wrong way.  I'm all for practicality.  Since both the top and bottom are flat.  When I hit half the bottle, I can just tilt it around and allow it to stand on its cover  without fear of it toppling over.  It's so convenient as I don't have to keep shaking it.

Re-purchase?
Well, I'd definitely will re-purchase it again, some time later because I'm itching to try it's two other siblings! Hehe... I'd have to say that Johnson's & Johnson's did well with this range.  Really tempting to buy the other two to try =p

Review: Kose Softymo Cleansing Oil - Speedy and White

A couple of months back a friend of mine was in HK for business.  He was bored and started chatting with me on MSN when suddenly he just said this, "you want me to help you anything or not?" I went blur for a minute because come on, usually guys DO NOT offer (usually ya!) to help you shop okay.  So, after confirming with him a couple of times, I asked him to help me get Kose Softymo Cleansing Oil! I wanted to buy all 3, but he only managed to find like 2 of them for me.  But still, thanks E for your help. I've been reading about it on ParisB's blog and couldn't wait to get my hands on them!

Currently I am using the Kose Softymo White Cleansing Oil.  Some information from Sasa's website:

Kose SOFTYMO White Cleansing Oil is an oil type make-up remover that can remove old keratins and make-up quickly. Orange oil and rice bran oil help to emboss heavy make-up like stubborn water-proof mascara, and remove all your make-up. It contains job's tears ingredient to keep moisture in your skin, so you will not feel a stiff or dry skin after use.

So, how did it fair?

First off, I've never used any cleansing oil before because I seldom make up.  I bought a cleansing milk before and it lasted me ages.  But these days, I love to do eye make up and tone up my skin with powder and blusher, so a good make up remover is needed.

I've seen been using this on and off.  On and off because sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't.  So read on.

Likings:
I love the fact that it comes with a lock.  Makes me even consider wanting to bring it along with me for travels because I don't have to worry about spilling.  But I didn't given that it's quite a big bottle, at 230ml.

Secondly, I just need 2 pumps for my whole face.  The texture is light, not like those oily and sticky kind.  I think it is just slight thicker from water, so you could imagine it.  First contact with the skin, it's not the weird oil feeling, but rather a nice smooth feeling when you slather it onto your face.  What I do is I made sure I give my face a good slow rub to make sure it gets too all my face's nooks and corners to remove the make up.  Once I'm satisfied, or it's not so smooth to rub my face anymore, I emulsify it with water.  Same thing, I make sure I emulsify my oily face with lots of water to rid of the oil.

I practice double cleansing (like many others!) to ensure that no residues are left behind on my skin.  Even then, I don't feel my skin is squeaky clean; which means it's not too drying kind of feeling.

What's more, given that it's less than RM20 (HKD45) for 230ml, it's good bargain!

Turn offs:
Maybe it's just me, but I find that it doesn't remove my waterproof mascara very well.  Or maybe I don't massage the area long enough...

That aside, everytime I use it on my eyes area, my eyes will be blurry after the washing session.  I guess the oil kinda went into my eyes.  Well, for one, it doesn't irritate my eyes.  No stinging whatsoever, just slight blurry-ness that goes off after a short while.

All in all, I think it's quite a good buy.  Unfortunately, this is a product that's only available in Hong Kong.  So, don't miss out on it and do get your hands on it if you are in Hong Kong alright!  There's one more I want to try too! Their Deep Cleansing Oil... Hope I'll have the chance to grab it =p

Will review the Speed Cleansing Oil much later.....

Well Defined Eye Brows

Was reading on TotalBeauty when I came across this article about the importance of well definited eye brows.  I used to have very busy eye brows, until my friend decided to help me do the deed.  Haha, she's wayyy too skilled for her age back then (like 18) and decided that mine looks awful.  Once she did her stuff with me, I was pretty amazed by it and really fell in love it eye brow tweezing.  Sadly though, I am not able to pick up her skills, thus my frequent visits to beauty saloons to do a clean up for me.  Now that I am giving the eye brow threading a try, I'm finding myself enjoying it too.  Pretty much the same price at beauty saloons and the look's much neater.

Talking about that, I'm due for one already! Time to scout for a good eye brow threading bar.  Any recommendation???

Eye Brow Threading

I am always fascinated by it.  In my previous company,  I've had Indian colleagues who always go for face threading and it piques my interest.  But back then, I was still young and am quite scared to give it a try so I gave it a pass.  In the past, there are a lot of people who go for facial threading, because the make up is not as advanced as now and tend not to stick to our skin (figuratively speaking) due to the little hair around our face.  My mom says that usually, people would go for full facial threading when it's their wedding and they need to put on make up.

Oh well, upon chatting with a friend recently, I was really up for it! And so I went scouting to see where I could go to do threading, without me driving like miles and miles off to do so. I ended up at A Listers at Centrepoint.  Mind you, I was doing a bit of research online when I came across them.  I've been wanting to try them out for waxing purposes, at their unit in Sunway Giza, but it's quite tough since traffic could be quite mad heading there after work.  So off I go to Centrepoint.

I'll be honest, I was quite taken aback by the size of the place.  It is small, like just two 2 small beauty rooms.  I was getting a little bit doubtful after a while.  A lady (sorry, bad with names) got me into the room and started doing her stuff.  I was there for eye and lip threading.  I told her it was my first time and she smiled, telling me not to worry.  That really helps because she is nice and friendly, albeit not very good in English.  But she knows her stuff and I kinda felt better.

So how did it go?  It's slightly painful, much like plucking with your tweezer, but slightly more painful.  Well, considering the fact that it's pulling a bunch of it in a go, and not one by one.. haha... I shouldn't be surprised.  And the results?  I'd have to say, it's a lot neater as compared to tweezing.  I have to say, my eye area looks "clean".  I have a lot of small hairs between my brow and my eye lines.  Usual tweezing can be quite painful and most of the sessions I went to have it "clean" up doesnt really do the work.  But I'd have to say this threading totally clean it out and my eyes looks so much fresher too.

So will I go and have it done again?  I'd have to say yes.  I'm already researching to see which one I should go.  Although A Listers does a fairly good job, I'm still new to this and I can't stop the inner experimenter in me to stay at one place!

Have you done it before? Do share, share...

Eye Make Up Remover from Stage

After my Maybelline eye and lip make up remover finished, I've been using Stage's After Party Eye Make Up Remover.  Before I get started with Stage, I gotta say this; Maybelline Eye and Lip Make Up Remover is such a darling and I have yet to come across anything that works as well as it does.  So, forgive me if I were to make some comparisons along the way eh?

First off, I got this make up remover during Stage's promotion. It was going for RM18!  How can one miss out on such offers!! (sucker for them....sadly...).  And I love the name of it: After Party.  It really does make you go jiggy with it and then have some fun right after that... haha... well, at least, it does that for me.  Some of the ingredients listed if you are interested:

So how does it fair?
In all honesty, it does not do as well as Maybelline.  Although it's written there Waterproof Eye Make Up Remover, and the SA mentioning that it's good for waterproof mascara and what not, it doesn't work very well.  I've tried removing my Maybelline Waterproof mascara, and I can still see residues on my lashes even after running the pad over it for like 5 to 6 times.  Sigh, sometimes I just give up and leave it as it is because my eyes were kinda hurting after rubbing it so many times.

However, it fairs well when removing eye shadows.  So there, a plus point for it.  I just need to rub it like twice and it's clean.  I guess it just doesn't work very well on mascara.

Will I re-buy?  I would have to say no.  I tend to wear mascara on and off and I don't have a lot of patience to slowly remove my make up, so I'll have to give this a pass.

I bought other Stage products which I kinda like, so... to be shared in another entry ... hehe

P/S:  Stage Cosmetics is a Malaysia brand and I dare say that they are doing quite well.  I love the fact that they have positioned themselves nicely in the market.  Bravo Stage, do keep it up.
